
Child obesity stats reveal that almost 60% of children in America are obese. That is a stunning and hard to believe fact! By the time an obese child turns 6 years old, there is a 50% chance that the child will become an obese adult. Everytime I see these stats, I’m amazed at what I’m even looking at. Eldon Family Fitness has made youth fitness a high priority and we are dedicated to educating our kids on healthy eating habits and exercise programs. It’s time to get them out from in front of the T.V. and off of the video games and computers.
February 1st, Eldon Family Fitness started its first Youth Fitness class for the 2010 year. The class will run until Friday, March 26th. We will then take one week off and start Session 2 on April 5th. In this class, our youth learn the basic fundamentals of strength, plyometrics and agility training. We target each area of training in every class and end with some good old fashion conditioning (cardio). It’s a great way for the kids to learn in a FUN, competitive environment. We have a ZERO TOLERANCE policy when it comes to making fun of anyone! The first time I hear it, the child will be excused from the class. Not only are we teaching the kids about health and fitness, but we are also teaching them about teamwork and that we are all on the same team. We will encourage not discourage.
